PREFACE
My
research has led me to discover that in every culture there is some kind of
evil being, one that preys upon the innocent, for example, in the Spanish
culture there is the Chupacabra. In Transylvania, there is the
vampire Nesferatu who seeks human blood. And in Western
civilization, although not restricted to it alone, there is the devil Satan.
For as long as man has been on this little star, he has had the awful task of
trying to avoid contact with dark forces. At times he has succeeded, being
granted divine intervention because of his faith and strong belief in the
omnipotent power of God. At other times he as failed because of a lack of
belief in anything but himself. The cards are always stacked in favor of evil,
when one attempts to match wits with the prince of darkness, without adequate
protection that comes from above.
Davy Johnson has woven a
tale that is as frightening as can be. He takes his readers on a journey into
the macabre, down into the pit where evil shadows lie in wait, ready to lunge
forth and strike out at some innocent and unsuspecting soul. It is for certain
that when Satan was cast out of Heaven for daring to case the other angels to
mutiny, a third of heaven was thrown (Revelations 12:7) out of heaven and that means there are a lot of
demons here among us. Is your faith strong? I certainly hope so. For it will
take nothing short of faith to put the devil on the run. Just a warning, stay
prayerful.

MAN'S PRIMAL SCREAM
By
DAVY JOHNSON
There
is a little girl screaming at the top of her lungs. She lives in Manhattan on
east sixty Third Street, her parents having recently been given promotions move
from the projects and into their own condominium. The Robinson's would know
what it was like to have a piece of the American dream and the success
associated with it. Little did they know an ancient and malevolent enemy would
overshadow their dreams of success? It is an enemy as timeless as he is evil.
It is he; Mephistopheles, Asmodeus, Lucifer, Satan and the devil that has their daughter Wendy gripped by fear, a fear so intense that all she can do
is to scream. Her parents are frantic.
Martha and Andrew, Wendy's
parents, have been unsuccessful in their attempt to calm their daughter, who is
a bundle of nerves. "What is it honey? Tell daddy what it is baby, no, no.
Calm down sweetheart," said Andrew, looking helpless himself, not knowing
how to quiet his screaming child. Wendy seems to be staring at something, but
at present only she can see it and that is what makes this all the more
horrific.
"Wendy baby, please
calm yourself or you're going to be sick. Come on honey tell mommy what's wrong
and why are you staring at the wall?" Martha asked.
Mommy. . Mommy ... mommy.
You can't see him? He's standing over there mommy. He said he's going to eat my
soul. Don't let him mommy. He said no one could help me. He said, when he's
finished with me, he's going to kill you and dad too. Please don't let him ...
please aieeeeeeeeeeee!" "Now, now, darling you've just had a bad dream
that's all honey, you'll see. Please stop crying Wendy, everybody can hear you
down the street," said Andrew, fearing that his neighbors might think
Wendy is being abused.
Wendy's abuse comes not from her parents, who are very nurturing and loving. But it comes from one who is a misanthrope and primordial. This is an adversary who is every bit as clever as he is deadly. No poison was ever as dangerous or weapon nearly as potent as he who waits covered in a cloak of invisibility. Only those who are the intended victim at the time can see him. And see him they do, in all of his rage and fury. The devil is definitely in the details.
There are three members in the Robinson Family; Andrew is a brown haired, blue eyed, six foot, one hundred forty pound unassuming man. Martha, his wife, is auburn haired, blue eyed, petite one hundred eight pound beautiful five foot seven-inch woman. Their daughter Wendy is a brown haired, blue eyed, freckled face, sixty-pound seven-year-old girl, quite pretty and is screaming her head off.
The
morning is a stark contrast to the awful event, which has unfolded. The sky is
a wonderful blue, making it a splendid backdrop. Birds fill the air, flying in
a kind of rhythmic procession. The atmosphere seems to be saturated with the
smell and fragrance of cherry blossoms. There are also sounds everywhere. In
the trees is the sound of the cicada. Crickets join in this orchestra, which at
times appear to be keeping in tune with one another. The noise of children
engaged in fun and games make the whole megullah of sound the most beautiful
aria ever heard.
Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are
having a fit, trying to get their child Wendy to simmer down. Wendy is staring
at the wall. At least, that's how it appears to be to her parents who are
worried beyond measure. "Maybe we should take her to see somebody. We've
done all we can do and nothing seems to be working. What do you think,
honey?" asked Andrew. "I don't know sweetheart. A psychiatrist might
only confuse the situation. I wish I knew what she was looking at," said
Martha, eyeing her daughter curiously and lovingly, as only a mother would do
in a situation where a child is concerned.
The
first such case in which a person was reported to be screaming continuously was
in Quito Ecuador. In a little village, a woman stood screaming as she stared
into her bedroom. An atmosphere of mysticism seems to permeate the area leaving
the villagers, frozen with fear, chilled by terror and refrigerated into
ambivalence. Every time the Ecuadorian woman, a black haired, brown eyed,
ninety eight pound, five foot five inch gorgeous beauty would tell someone
about what she saw, the demon threatened her with death. With every option
taken away from her by this five foot, flaming red eyed, cloven tongued, hooves
for feet and horns on the forehead monstrosity, the woman's only recourse lie
in screaming. The demon was ghastly, horrible to look at.
The
villagers knew of only one remedy for the situation, only one solution to the
terror waiting in the wings, one shred of hope that would put a stop to this
ancient nemesis. They needed a priest to perform an exorcism on the house, to
rid the house and entire village of this spawn of the devil. The Ecuadorian
villagers made haste to procure a priest, visiting one of the churches in their
village. The priest having been given the details prepared himself for the
battle that lie ahead. In his black bag he placed a crucifix, Holy Bible,
priest's stole and Holy water. His black cassock is worn at all times. He is
now ready to do battle with the demon. The villagers show Elder Ramon Guillermo
where Luz Pasada lives. They arrive at her house one half hour later to find
three of the neighbors there trying to comfort Luz.
Now inside the house, Elder Guillermo enters the
corridor where Luz is standing. "Senora Pasada, how are you? Why are you
so frightened? Can you tell me what's bothering you?" Asked Guillermo,
hoping to get her to tell him in her own words.
"No sir. I cannot tell you. I want to, but if I
do he said that he would.... he would... aiieeeeeeeeeeeee!" screamed Luz,
as the demon inched his way closer toward her, his claws juxtaposed in a manner
that suggested he was about to strike. "Es el Diablo. Por favor ayuda
mi."
"Senora Luz, I will be saying a prayer to cast
out the demon okay?" Asked Elder Guillermo, taking out the Bible and
opening to the passage of scripture that reads; "then went the devils out
of the man, and entered into the swine; and the herd ran violently down a steep
place into the lake, and were choked."
"I say to you whom we cannot see to make
yourself visible in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth," charged Elder
Guillermo, the demon's form became noticeable to all who were in the house. The
ghastly creature, turning his attention to the priest began to howl like a wolf.
"Man of God, why do you torment me by mentioning that name?
Oowwoooooo!" The priest, seeing how effective the name of the Lord was
began to say, "Shut up." In the Name of Jesus I command you to leave
this village and never enter it or harm anyone here again." The demon
started to twist, bend and cower in tremendous pain, and then suddenly he
vanished into smoke. "You did see him, did you not? I mean, you see that I
did not imagine it all, right?" "No senora Pasada it was all too
real. Ay Dios mio," said the priest, his hands shaking nervously. That was
in the year of our Lord 1650.
It is now 1990, three
hundred forty years later and a girl named Wendy is screaming. It would appear
that this same demonic being has found another town to turn upside down with
fright. Just like the Ecuadorian woman, the Robinson's have run out of options.
Their only solace lie in seeking spiritual help. Ordinarily, they are not
religious. But this event which as taken place challenged everything the
Robinson's have come to know and believe in. They are not aware of what
happened in Ecuador more than three centuries ago. They only know that they've
got to stop their daughter from screaming and shaking - at all cost.
"Martha, my brother-in-law Bill Patterson is a preacher. He belongs to a Pentecostal Church. Maybe he can help Wendy. It couldn't hurt," Andrew commented, his wife leaning her head on his shoulder sobs, "Call him honey. Our baby is in torment. We've got to help her."
Andrew calls his brother-in-law who agrees to come right over, since he lives across town, it will take about forty minutes for him to arrive.
Forty minutes pass and sure enough Bill arrives in his robe and other priestly gear. "Hi Martha, hey Andy. What's going on here?" "I hope you can stand to hear what I'm about to tell you. You see Wendy has been screaming and crying for more than two hours now. Nothing we try seems to help. She says there's a devil standing in the middle of the room. She claims that the devil threatened to kill her, Martha and me, if she tells anyone about him. Wendy says that the devil only want her to see him for now. Bill, can you help her? Can you convince her that it's all in her head? Andrew pleads.
"Hold onto yourselves folks because I've seen this before.
The priest, Bill Patterson reaches into his briefcase and pulls out a King James Bible. He walks over to where Wendy is standing, almost transfixed. As he gets nearer to where the child is, the demon starts to howl once more, knowing that his reign of terror is about to reach a startling climax. Holding the Bible in his right hand, Mr. Patterson lifted the Bible in the air saying; in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I command you to show yourself." The devil, twisting and writhing in pain howls in a manner that can only be described as out of this world, as his form is made visible. The sight and sound send a chill up the spine of everyone in the house. The priest, summoning up every ounce of courage he can muster says; In the Name of Jesus Christ, I command you to leave this house and never bring fear upon this family again." The demon falls to the floor, writhing in pain. It is a pain so intense that it sets every fiber of its being on fire. A few seconds later, the devil is consumed into a huge vapor of smoke and disappears.
Wendy is her usual playful
self once again, since the dark demon has been eradicated. Life has returned to
normal for the Robinson's.
But what about the next
victim?
Will they be as fortunate?
After all, this fiend keeps
moving from town to town. He will not rest until he has consumed as many souls
as he can, taking them with him to his realm where every kind of wicked intent
gets played out. In his lair of darkness, he waits with all the patience of
eons, his eyes coveting and his lust for souls increasing. God only knows what
town he has planned to visit next.
God had intervened because
of the strong faith exhibited by this family. Faith is absolutely essential, if
an attack of this magnitude is to be thwarted and rendered harmless. Faith in
almighty God is what causes this creature to cringe and do an about face.
ELEVEN
YEARS LATER
In a Chicago suburban town
called Haddonfield the monstrous entity has targeted yet another group, the
McKinney family. He creeps from city to city, town, to town, since he cannot be
destroyed, only delayed temporarily from completing his objective. Relentless
in his quest to devour innocent souls, the demon launches his attack upon the
weakest member of the McKinney family, Tonya. Tonya is a lovely brown haired,
blue eyed, four foot, thin eight-year-old girl, quite pretty and she is
screaming hysterically.
Standing
between the bedroom and the hallway of the house, as is his usual custom, the
dark angel menaces the already frightened girl with horrible facial expressions
and threats of torture and death. He has enabled only Tonya to see him, which
would make all of her claims about his existence to her parents seem like the
product of imagination. The fact that the McKinney family doesn't go to church,
but put their faith in science leaves them helpless to ward off this creature.
A creature that is as old as tune itself, one which knows what man is afraid
of, who knows man more than man know himself, for he was here before man.
Tonya's parents are at their
wit's end, trying to figure out why their daughter is screaming. "Mommy,
daddy, he's going to get me. The monster
over there, he's going to kill me. Please mommy, daddy help me. He's
coming closer, "cried Tonya, on the verge of collapsing. Her father,
Thomas reaches opt and grabs Tonya in time before she toppled over, her eyes
wide and her screams continuing. "What is it baby? Why are you so upset
honey?" asked Thomas, holding his daughter in his arms, her mother
standing by with both hands covering her mouth and looking over in the
direction where Tonya is staring, seeing nothing but empty space. "Daddy,
daddy... he's standing over there. Why can't you see him? He said he's going to
kill me and that no one can do anything to stop him. You can stop him, can't
you daddy?" Tonya asked, looking up at her father with the kind of
assurance and confidence that a child has in their idol. "Honey, 1 can't
stop what I can't see. Are you sure you didn't just have a bad dream?" he
asked, hoping that were the case, so he could once again resume his role as a
super dad, at least, in his daughter's eyes.
The morning air is scented
with the fragrance of leaves on an entire avenue of trees that run in a line in
this lovely suburban town. The sound of birds singing their beautiful songs
along with other familiar noises found in nature. These all add a kind of
splendor to the blue sky, a great backdrop.
Two squirrels are seen
chasing each other, competing for the right to keep an acorn, which had fallen
off one of the trees.
Tonya is filled with complete and utter exasperation, having no success in convincing her parents that the fear she is facing is a real one, one that is just waiting for the chance to attack her and attack her he will. "I don't know why you can't see him, he's right over there. Mommy, daddy I'm afraid," she sobs. "There's nothing to be afraid of sweetheart. It was just a bad dream, you'll see," said her father, trying to convince Tonya and himself as well. "But dreams happen when you are asleep, don't they? Well, I'm wide-awake and the monster is standing there in the hall. Don't let him get me, please aaaiiieeeeeeeeee!" she screams, being in terror by the beast that is only visible to her. "Baby there's nothing there," advises her mother, who is shaken by the state that their daughter is in, not knowing how to dispel her fears. "But he is there mommy and he's talking to me now," said Tonya. "What is he saying? Will you just listen at me, talking as though something real is there? Baby it's not real. Stop now or you're going to make yourself sick." "Mommy please believe me when I say he's real. He is right over there," said Tonya, pointing in the direction of the cloven tongued, double horned, two hoofed feet, frightening demon. "Okay, okay Tonya, I'll prove he's not real," said her father, reassuringly. "How daddy? How can you prove that he's not real, when he's standing right there just waiting to get me? He has arranged it somehow so that only I can see him and he's going to get me mommy and daddy, he's going to get me," said Tonya, still weeping pitifully, more upset that her parents do not believe what she's seeing and experiencing is very real. The devil, no longer able to contain the awesome rage that has built up to a feverish pitch says angrily; "Didn't I tell you not to make me known? Do you remember what I said I would do to you, if you told anyone about me?" said the beast; closing in on Tonya, inch by terrible inch. Tonya's mother and father stand frozen in shock, petrified by fear, and rendered immobile by ambivalence, having heard for the first time the voice of the awful demon. "What? who are you and why are you frightening our daughter Tonya? What has she done to you that you have picked on her? Why don't you show yourself now? What, are you scared to pick on somebody your own size?" said Thomas, his voice showing genuine anger at the idea his daughter was being scared out of her wits. The devil replied; "All in good time, you sagging piece of human flesh. All in good time. Right now, I'm content with scaring your daughter Tonya. She has every reason to be scared, for I'm going to devour her flesh as you would devour a spare rib. Yeah, I bet she'll taste just like chicken. I'm going to eat her alive. I just wanted you to know that and it's nothing you can do about it either," said the demon, grinning. "But she's only a little girl, a baby. She hasn't even started life yet. She doesn't know anything about junior high or boy friends, not even getting her hair permed. Why don't you get a hardened criminal or someone with nothing to live for? Our daughter Tonya has everything to live for," Mary said, sobbing so hard she begins to shake. "Save your tears woman, they're wasted. I care nothing about you, your husband or your daughter. Tonya is my primary target right now. Whomever I have chosen for destruction must die, unless I am stopped somehow," said the hideous demon, as the parents of Tonya stood by watching in horror as the body of their daughter is torn apart, limb from limb and piece by piece is engulfed. Watching helplessly, Mary and Thomas who are unable to see the invisible evil entity, instead witness the awful spectacle before them as visible pieces of what was once their little girl is being consumed by the beast. What makes this scene so horrific is seeing how each part of Tony's visible body is rendered invisible, which is evidently now inside the body of this creature from the nether world. It is a land of eternal darkness, where evil and sinister acts get played out.
"Nooooooooo! She's not gone. She's not gone Thomas. Our girl is not dead. That thing didn't just kill our little girl. Tonya.. Tonya.. Come back baby, please baby come back," sobbed Mary, squeezing her husband's arm as he held his wife ever so close to his heart and shedding tears at what they both witnessed before their eyes.
