There
exists a great deal of paper and talk in our society concerning sexual matters
ranging from the titillating tabloid scandal to the more engrossing sordid
crime on the TV news. Yet there is no meaningful or practical civil consideration and representation of human sexuality with respect to its supreme
importance in connection with the evolution of our country and the survival of
democracy. Americans have “reached that point in the evolution of their country
where they can no longer treat sex and procreation as though disconnected and
unrelated to other human interactions social, political,
economic, environmental especially when viewed within the context,
boundaries, and limitations of the Constitution.” So says Frank Mingo in this stunning, “advanced” tract. In this philosophical tour de force, in the
most important socioorganizational
formula since the drafting of the Constitution, he lays out what we must
do to curb and reverse the continuing deterioration of our country in every
way, at every stratum of society. In taut, uncompromising, and often bracing
language, he sets down his existential prescription for the future: a plan that
addresses the major weakness of our society and our species our “sexual immaturity” as demonstrated by the
“juvenile” manner in which the men and women of our country (and Homo sapiens worldwide) come together
around their sexuality, and the manner in which parents deal with the sexuality
of young people as exemplified by the global overpopulation crisis,
“exaggerated materialism,” the increasing desensitization to and alienation
from our human qualities, and irrational hostility and violence. This is not
a philosophy for those who would look to the past nor present, nor to
government nor religion for the solutions to our grinding crises, but is
essential for those citizens who would know the future and dare to shape
it. From an assessment of our sociosexual
shortcomings and their direct impact on all other “social interactions” emerges
his philosophy and vision of the future one that embodies
the long view, necessitated by the fact the advance and evolution of the
species is, apparently, long and arduous,
and resides in nothing less than the creation of the Second Constitution of the
United States: one that deals with sex and procreation. He first posits the
fundamental idea supporting our Constitution and its strengths and limitations
in meeting and overcoming the numerous social problems that plague our country.
He continues with what he believes are the attitudes and approaches necessary
to the new “sociosexual ethics” (the
“new socialism”) fundamental to a
Sexual Constitution and the necessity for its creation for addressing the
severe problems and issues that remain outside the domain proper to the
Constitution. Out of an exposition that cuts through the sexual nonsense and
resulting chaos that overwhelms our citizens comes the author’s belief that the
eventual true equalizing and societal balancing of the sexes can come about
only by taking this critical and profound
“second step.”
About
the Author
Frank Mingo is a New Englander. He characterizes himself as a
self-styled free-range philosopher who writes about issues he finds interesting
and important, “and with a dash of Yankee ingenuity.” This is a splendid
example of an author who can focus on the historical past and evoke a vision of
the future. “It’s great.”
