FROM THE SOUL OF A SAMURAI
By
This is a wonderful collection
of poetic, and evocative verse, and philosophical comments about one’s
existence. The author’s reminiscences
are both provocative, thought provoking and reflective of so many as he begins
to experience the winter of life. The
author outlines triumphs, disenchantment, religious doubt, and political
skepticism with the realization his time is running out and he didn’t change
the world. In fact it was all for
naught.
Jude Walter is a gifted poet and writer of free style verse. He possesses a talent for expressing his innermost and intimate thoughts in a stimulating style seldom encountered in today’s literary world. The author touches on thoughts most prefer to ignore. This work is a genuine attention getter!

MY LIFE
Being born disabled means that
I face barricades in life.
Life will be hard.
People will be both for me and against me.
Dreams I have.
To quote the Beatles, “I am going to try with a
little help from my friends.”
If God wills it, I will do just fine.
All I am able to do is live my life.

THE COLD TRUTH
The boss does the crime and
the little man pays the time.
The black man gets the pay
as the white man toils away.
This is the cold truth.
JUDE WALTER
The time of elves and men are past.
I ask you please remember them.
Long ago men cared for the land and believed in
elves of the woodland realm.
Talk of end times was unknown.
People cared for their mother earth.
During the age of the elf there was peace not war.
Life not death was spoken of.
I say this to the prophet of death.
The love of gold and power has cheated your sight
but then you are men not kin to
Overon and Laggless.
So may God forgive your folly and give you peace.
JUDE WALTER
Clop, Clop, Clop go the horses hooves as men in
white hoods run down a colored man.
That was then.
Dear God help us now that it’s African Americans on
iron horses.

ODE TO CHVNNA
I was ten when you were born.
For nine months I did pray for you to be a girl.
Love you baby sister, do I.

BY TWILIGHT AND NIGHTFALL
I have lived most of my life by twilight and nightfall, not standing the good light of day.
Light stings my eyes and blinds my sight. Due to
this, I am forever condemned to live somewhere between twilight and nightfall.
JUDE WALTER
WHAT IS LOVE?
Love is trust.
Love is hope.
Love is peace.
Love is the greatest power of them all.

BULLDOGS And ME
I wish to be a bulldog breeder
because bulldogs are beautiful.
Bulldogs are smart.
Being a breeder is something of an art.
JUDE WALTER
The smell of rain is on the air
And then drop, drop, drops hit the roof
Flash lightning streaks a night sky.
Swish, swish the cars go by
Thunder again
Lightning fills the sky and this time
My baby girl cries.
